THE ROUTE ALONG THE RIVER SAVA TO THE KRANJSKA GORA

An idyllic path winds along the Sava River from Trata Resort to Kranjska Gora. In spring you will breathe in the awakening nature, in summer you will enjoy the coolness of the clear river, in autumn you will admire the explosion of yellow-red colors, in winter you will rest your eyes on the snow-covered banks. The trail is suitable for walkers and, at a slightly faster pace, offers just the right amount of recreation. The trail splits at the little bridge, so you can walk to Kranjska Gora on either the left or right bank of the Sava River. For the right bank of the Sava towards Kranjska Gora, we recommend suitable footwear, as the path is riddled with roots and stones. The path touches a golf course, from here on you can choose different routes.

MARTULJŠKI WATERFALLS

From the "Trata" you can walk to the Martuljški waterfalls, which are located under one of Slovenia's most attractive mountains, Špik. The trail will lead you past a clearing where you can see how charcoal was once cooked. One path leads through the Martuljška gorge, this path is sometimes closed and can be dangerous, as the cliffs above the gorge are very crumbly, we suggest you follow the sign for 'Brunarica Pri Ingotu' and start climbing up the wide but quite steep track. In half an hour you will reach the marked crossroad, the unique Lower Martuljška Waterfall. A little further on is the Finžgarjeva kapelica. Here you can finish the trip and return to the valley, or continue to the magnificent Upper Martuljška Waterfall, which falls over a mighty cliff. The last part of the trail is more challenging and has a short climbing section, so proper footwear is recommended. A wonderful trip in the embrace of the Martulj Mountains is complemented by the unique ambience and local food of the Pri Ingot pasture farm, located on the path between the two waterfalls.

PLANICA – THE VALLEY TRAIL

Near Rateč, it branches off from Dolina. It is bounded to the west by the Ponc ridge, and to the east by the Mojstrovka and Cipernik ridges. The upper part of Planica passes into the Tamar, otherwise known as Zelje, one of the most beautiful gorges in the Slovenian Alps, at the end of which Jalovec rises in its distinctive form. From beneath it, a glacier descended into Planica in the Pleistocene, transforming the upper and middle part of the valley. The moraine deposited by the glacier covers the central valley floor.

Along the Valley Trail you can find representation that show the features of this area.

ALPE ADRIA TRAIL

The stage leads over Vršič, the highest pass in the Julian Alps. A picturesque view of the northern faces of the highest peaks that you will remember for a long time. The stage starts in Kranjska Gora (810 m), where you pass the Best Western Hotel Kranjska Gora to Lake Jasna and from there continue along a forest road past the ruins of the former Hotel Erika. Continue along the mountains and through the forests, along the mountain stream Pišnica, past Mihov's home (1085 m) and the Russian Chapel, and from there turn onto the old donkey trail to the top of Vršič (1688 m). It is only a few steps to the lookout point, where you can see the face of the Ajdovska deklica (Heathen Maiden), natural rock formation full of legends in myths that are explaining its formation. The Russian Chapel and the Ajdovska deklica are the magic points of this section. 200 meters below the second (26th) bend, turn onto the hiking trail and follow the signs of the Slovenian Mountaineering Association until you reach the car park in front of the hut by the source of the Soča River. To reach the spring, follow the path behind the hut and then return the same way. There is a large information board about the Soča Valley next to the car park. Typical small pegs in the Triglav National Park lead to the information center in Dom Trenta.
